This Year's fics babydraco posted the following meme on her IJ. This is the first year I've written enough to qualify, so here it is:
FIC MEME
Favorite Story:Garden of Thorns: No it's not my best, and it's not even finished yet, but it's giving me hope that I can finish a long-term project and it's exposing so many of my flaws to my own gaze that I can't help but learn from it. (Mostly the flow of the prose - that needs so much work it's not funny!)
My best story this year:The Afterlives of Sarah Rees Toome. Probably the best thing I've ever written: it's hardly perfect (the last section flags somewhat towards the end) but it's of zine-publishable quality, and I haven't yet written anything else that is.
Most fun story:A Great and Terrible Beauty: A Busy Reader's Guide. Jokes, some dialogue I'm rather proud of and gratifying feedback from the AGATB fandom.
Most Sexy Story: I don't DO "sexy"!
Single Sexiest Moment: See above, though maybe the chapter in Garden where Martha gets confronted by Dream!Pippa has a bit of sexiness in amidst the cringe factor.
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you": My Omkara slashfic, definitely :) But I had to write it, not least because it's a shout-out to anyone else who saw that film and thought "Wow, what a twisted pairing!"
Biggest Disappointment: That I couldn't get Garden finished before the release of TSFT: however, I rushed out Chs 15 and 16, and the drop in quality has been reflected in the loss of reviews. Best that I carry on at my usual snail's pace, if by doing so I deliver something actually worth reading!
Biggest Surprise: That I'm able to fill out this poll at all! Not that I could have without babydraco's kind encouragement, for which many thanks :)
Most unintentionally telling story:Garden, of course - after my Snape/Quirrell fic it's obvious I have a jones for painfully-obvious powerplay teacher-student stories. (Don't ask - I've no idea why!) That said, after Garden I plan to take the heroine beyond that, and we'll see whether I can expand my range...
